Clarence J. Herzer, 90, of Saxonburg, formerly of Cheswick, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born April 22, 1928, to his parents, the late Clarence and Amelia Schreiner Herzer. Mr. Herzer formerly belonged to Our Lady of Lorretta Parish in Brookline. He worked as an engineer and was affiliated with the local No. 95 Operating Engineers Union, where he was a very proud member. Clarence was an avid fisherman, enjoyed photography and was a loyal Pittsburgh Penguins fan, belonging to the Pen's booster club for many years. He was a great father as well as husband and will be greatly missed. Surviving him are his son, Regis (Faye) Herzer, of California; son, Joseph Herzer, of Georgia; daughter, Donna Herzer, of Louisiana; son, Richard (Kitty) Herzer, of Georgia; son, Mark (Janice) Herzer, of Georgia; daughter, Barbara Herzer, of Cheswick; a sister, Shirley Hammel, of Valentia; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita Mae Herzer, on March 20; daughter, Linda Madden; three brothers, Charles, Ronald and Norbert; and two sisters, Annamae Barkley and Lorraine Jessen. Friends will be welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, at CHARLES B. JARVIE CHESWICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1607 Pittsburgh St., where a vigil service will commence at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home by Father Mark Pattock.
