Alfred F. Trempus, 88, of Cheswick, died on April 15, 2017. Born on October 18, 1928 in Springdale, Pa to the late Nick and Mary Trempus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Jean (Borland); sisters, Elizabeth, Rose, Helen, Frances, Katherine and Anna Marie; brothers George, Joseph, John and Edward. He is the father of Janet (Frank Dunn of Virginia Beach, Bill Trempus of Key West Fl, and Tom (Rozanne) Trempus of Gibsonia. He is the grandfather of Michael and Stephen Trempus. Al graduated from Springdale High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Cheswick Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Oakmont Elks. Al served overseas in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a service manager for A.W. Kennedy Ford in Cheswick, and Milos Ford in Oakmont before becoming owner/operator of Trempus Auto Service in Oakmont for 27 years. After selling his business, he taught auto repair at the Forbes Road Technical Institute and then retired from Macy’s Department store. He was a member of the Allegheny Valley School Board for 18 years and served as president for 10 years. Al loved his family and enjoyed traveling, especially along the Atlantic coast. He also enjoyed bowling in the AARP bowling league. Al enjoyed and attended numerous high school, college, and professional sporting events. Friends will be received Tuesday April 18 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in CHESWICK at the Charles B. Jarvie Funeral Home Inc. 1607 Pittsburgh Street where services will be held Wednesday April 19 at 10 am by the Rev. David Carlisle officiating with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery Harmar Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cheswick Presbyterian Church 1401 Pittsburgh Street Cheswick,Pa 15024.
